2020 Webvision work with Shoreham Port Authority

Shoreham Port Authority recently commissioned 2020 Webvision to audit their website, a key component in the Port’s communication strategy. A busy Port close to urban residential neighbours, good communication is seen as essential to growing the business.
A full audit revealed that the website had been extensively re-worked and enhanced in partnership with their website developer. Work was needed on consistency and simplification of the navigation. The information on the site needed targeting to user groups using an information channel aimed at meeting diverse needs without excessive drilling down. Similarly, optimising individual pages as points of entry takes pressure off the home page. As with many large scale websites with complex objectives, simplification is key. Pare back text and use only meaningful navigation titles and write with the website in mind –less is more!

The audit report recommended 15 remedial actions, most of which were very minor, but aimed at the Port taking forward the website with their current developer. To that end a development roadmap was provided with broad costings for the changes.

Rod Johnstone, CEO of Shoreham Port Authority, "Whilst we were delighted with our refreshed website, Paul and 2020 Webvision were able to provide an independent, unbiased audit which highlighted the need for some extremely helpful "fine tuning". This "fresh pair of eyes" review of our website ultimately provided greater focus and further enhancement, for the benefit of all visitors to our site."

Paul Madgin of 2020 Webvision, "The Port Authority recognised the importance of the website and stakeholder groups in their communication strategy. This made my job quite straightforward,  independent, in depth analysis, resulting in logical well argued actions that could deliver their goal. A case of a very capable web developer delivering what the client wants but not always what they need. My role is to translate customer expectations into results"
